Electric motorbikes users must buy compulsory insurance for civil liability

The regulation on compulsory civil liability insurance of motor vehicle users has added that the subjects must be insured are electric motorcycles

Legal grounds:

  • Decree No. 03/2021/ND-CP;
  • Circular No. 04/2021/TT-BTC.

The capacity and speed of current electric motorbikes can be equivalent to that of two-wheeled motorbikes; three-wheel motorcycle and fully may cause a dangerous accident. Therefore, Decree No. 03/2021/ND-CP has came into effect on March 1st, 2021 has added electric motorbikes that are subject to which owners must participate in compulsory civil liability insurance.

The premium rate for electric motorbikes is VND 55,000

The insurance period for electric motorbikes is minimum 1 year, maximum is 3 years

Liability insurance for damage to life and health: VND 150 million/ person/ accident

Liability insurance for property damage: VND 50 million/ accident
